COME TASTE OUR NEW PINOT NOIRS
DURING WEEKEND TASTING ROOM HOURS!
What better way to celebrate summer than with two new Ken Brown Pinot Noirs—one from Santa Maria Valley and one from Sta. Rita Hills! The 2011 Garey Vineyard Pinot Noir from Santa Maria Valley has amazing color and remarkably expressive aromatics and flavors. The 2011 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir is blended from three top vineyards and has fresh fruit aromatics with an incredibly silky texture. Deborah and I suggest trying them with pork tenderloin, fresh grilled salmon or portabella mushrooms.
In response to the high demand for tasting appointments and great attendance at our monthly open houses, we have decided to hold regular tasting room hours. We are now open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 4:00 (more details below). We hope these regular hours will make it easier for you to stop by and taste your favorite wines. We will continue to host special open houses for festival weekends and other events and will post those on our calendar of events on the Ken Brown website.
If you’ve never attended the Santa Barbara Wine Festival at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Deb and I recommend it. The setting under the oaks along Mission creek is absolutely delightful. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, June 29 from 2 to 5 pm. If you mention Ken Brown Wines when calling for tickets, you will receive museum member pricing. We’d love to see you there.
Cheers!

NEW RELEASES
This outstanding Santa Maria Valley vineyard was planted in 1999 in consultation with Ken Brown. The wine displays extraordinary complexity and depth throughout. Aromas of rich, dark cherry fruit with hints of nutmeg and clove give way to intensely expressive ripe cherry flavors accented by a touch of black raspberry, dark chocolate and French oak. A rich, decadent mouthfeel culminates in a long, luxurious finish. Though extremely drinkable upon release, this wine will reward those who choose to give it extended aging. Only 146 cases produced. Click here for more details or to order.
This wine provides an excellent overview of the Sta. Rita Hills, combining Pinot Noir from three exceptional vineyards: Rio Vista, Rita’s Crown and La Rinconada. Bright, fresh aromas of cherry and blackberry are highlighted by an undercurrent of earth tones and spice. Attractive flavors of dark cherry and black raspberry are supported by unfolding layers of complexity and a beautifully flowing texture from start to finish. The wine’s soft tannins and balanced acid profile will conserve the wine’s freshness and assure great cellar potential. Only 298 cases produced. Click here for more details or to order.
