CLOS PEPE PINOT NOIR
JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

You’ve been asking... you’ve been patiently waiting… the much anticipated Ken Brown 2011 Clos Pepe Pinot Noir is finally here! To our legions of Clos Pepe fans, we hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait. The wine exhibits the classic finesse and richness Clos Pepe is known for along with beautiful aromatics and flavors. Deborah and I plan to uncork a bottle or two at our Thanksgiving table. Given the limited production of this wine, we suggest stopping by the tasting room soon for a taste of this stellar new release and placing your orders soon.

You are all cordially invited to help us celebrate the one-year anniversary of our new tasting room with a weekend full of festivities December 5-7! We will be hosting a magnum party on Friday night; Saturday features live music and a gourmet food truck, and Sunday I will be hosting a vertical tasting of older Ken Brown vintages from my personal cellar. NEW RELEASE


2011 CLOS PEPE VINEYARD
PINOT NOIR

It’s back! This wine is a true fan favorite from the venerable Clos Pepe Vineyard, a small, family-run estate that is recognized as one of Sta. Rita’s Hills’ preeminent vineyards. The wine displays beautiful finesse in the aromatics and flavors, evoking a true terroir-driven sense of place that is unmistakably Clos Pepe. The nose features medium dark berry fruit along with Clos Pepe’s distinguishing touch of minerality and undercurrents of brown spice and subtle earth tones. Rich flavors of berry and truffle are accented by hints of black tea, spice and a delicate touch of toastiness from French oak. The wine is beautifully integrated, with a richness that carries all the way through to a refined, prolonged finish. Only 265 cases made. Click here for more information or to purchase.

Friday, Dec. 5th: Magnum party from 5 to 7 pm. Tastings from rare Ken Brown magnums accompanied by savory appetizers. $20 per person; $10 for wine club members. Limited to 50 guests. Saturday, Dec. 6th: Live music and a gourmet food truck from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. Come hang out with us, taste the latest Ken Brown releases and grab lunch or a tasty snack available for purchase from the food truck.

Sunday, Dec. 7th: Ken will lead a vertical tasting of older Ken Brown vintages from his personal cellar. Seatings at 11:30 am and 2:00 pm. $20 per person; $10 for wine club members. Limited to 20 guests per seating. Reservations required by calling 805-688-9400 or email

Any of our Ken Brown wines can be packaged for gift giving. Your shipment will include festive holiday tissue and a personalized message at no additional charge. Simply request holiday packaging in the special instructions box and include your message. We are happy to fill gift lists for you as long as they are submitted by the deadlines below.

Monday, December 15 by 12:00 pm for California orders
Orders placed after these dates will be charged 2nd Day Air freight. Final day for all orders is December 18.

A PEEK IN THE CELLAR

On the heels of the tremendous 2012 and 2013 vintages, another great vintage is unfolding in the Ken Brown cellars. The 2014 wines are beautiful and very expressive with good color and flavor. The Pinot Noirs have just finished malo-lactic fermentation and will begin their extended aging in a mix of new and older French oak barrels. The Chardonnay lots have completed the primary fermentation and are in the process of completing secondary fermentation. The Syrahs are just entering the malo-lactic phase, and could be some of our best ever. Stay tuned!
