* 2005 Vin Gris, Santa Barbara County
|
Winemaking Notes
Crafted from outstanding Pinot Noir from Clos Pepe and Rio Vista vineyards in Santa Rita Hills (83%) and Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley (17%), this wine is the result of a saignée, or juice draw, taken when the grapes are crushed. This technique enhances the concentration of the red Pinot Noir wine, while creating a crisp, aromatic Vin Gris from the saignée. The wine was barrel fermented and aged for five months in older French oak.
Tasting Notes This wine showcases the beautiful fruit expression of cool climate Pinot Noir with fresh aromas of strawberries and black cherries. Crisp acidity is balanced by a soft undercurrent of French oak.
