 2017 LA ENCANTADA VINEYARD PINOT NOIR
Located just west of the legendary Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, La Encantada is in the heart of Sta. Rita Hills’ quintessential Pinot Noir zone. Sourced from Block 5 Swan Selection Pinot Noir, this wine displays beautiful aromas of wild cherry, strawberry and pomegranate accented by hints of red currant, herbes de Provence and spice. The perfectly structured texture supports appealing notes of dark cherry, red plum, forest floor and a touch of spiced vanilla, culminating in a long, graceful finish. Only 193 cases made. More info
2016 THOMPSON VINEYARD SYRAH
Planted in the late 1980s, Thompson Vineyard has a well-deserved reputation for outstanding Syrah. The vineyard is planted along the slopes of Alisos Canyon in the relatively cool Los Alamos Valley. This Syrah offers vibrant aromas of dark plum, blueberry compote and smoked meat complemented by hints of cracked black pepper and vanilla. The flavors are bold and rich with accents of black raspberry, ripe plum, baking spices and a touch of cola. Noted for its exceptional ageability, this Thompson Vineyard Syrah will continue to develop complexity and richness for a decade or more. Only 85 cases made. More info
HARVEST IS ON THE HORIZON
 Grapes in the Sta. Rita Hills are enjoying cool temperatures and long hang time this season. Ken estimates that harvest is running about two weeks behind normal and anticipates the first Pinot Noir could be ready to pick by the second week of September. Stay tuned!
