2018 ENVISION PINOT NOIR
Sta. Rita Hills has experienced an unseasonably cool growing season this year, pushing back vineyard development and ripening by an average of two weeks. Harvest at Ken Brown kicked off on September 8 with 6 tons of Pinot Noir from Rio Vista Vineyard, which is looking like a real standout this vintage. After a two week lull, we harvested 2.4 tons of beautiful Clone 943 Pinot Noir from Sanford & Benedict. The following five days were crunch time for our cellar crew as we brought in multiple small lots of Pinot Noir from Mt. Carmel Vineyard, Vineyard Francesca and Peake Ranch. The first week of October saw Rancho La Viña and Radian Vineyard Block 41 Pinot Noir come in. October 12 the focus was on Chardonnay as we harvested 2.5 tons of Chardonnay from Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. Last, but most definitely not least, our Radian Block 40 Pinot Noir was finally ready on October 18, a full month later than last year's harvest date. Read full details in our 2021 Harvest Log
