Ken's 50th harvest is in the books and it was quite the whirlwind. Sta. Rita Hills normally begins harvest in early- to mid-September but it came much earlier this year. We started harvest with Rio Vista Vineyard on August 7th and finished with Fiddlestix on August 28th. We've had harvests that started in August (looking at you, 2015), but we have never finished picking in August before. A warm, dry spring and consistent summer weather kept things moving along at a brisk pace. Fruit quality was excellent despite the accelerated schedule. After a year or two in barrel this should prove to be one of Ken's best vintages to date. In the meantime, Ken and Ben will get to enjoy a relaxing Fall season.
September's Featured Library Wine
As part of Ken's 50th harvest celebrations, we'll be featuring outstanding older wines in our tasting room throughout the year. These wines will be available to taste and purchase while supplies last. Because they are in very short supply there will be a limit of three bottles per customer.
