' Exquisite Rita's Crown Chard + New Pinot Noir

NEW RELEASES

2016 RITA'S CROWN VINEYARD CHARDONNAY
This stunning Chardonnay is from the celebrated Rita's Crown Vineyard, one of the highest vineyards in the AVA planted at 600 to 950 feet. The site is particularly exposed to coastal fog and cool marine winds. The wine offers expressive aromas of poached pears, apricot, green apple and crème brûlée accented by hints of cinnamon stick and orange zest. The palate features persimmon, Meyer lemon, honeysuckle and a hint of seashell. The silkiness and complexity of the wine carry through to an opulent, yet bright finish. This Chardonnay will continue to develop, becoming even more complex with additional bottle age. Only 133 cases made.   More info

2016 STA. RITA HILLS PINOT NOIR

This wine is a beautiful overview of the Sta. Rita Hills, combining Pinot Noir from across the temperature zones of the appellation: 31% Rio Vista, 31% Rancho La Viña, 17% Radian, 10% Zotovich, 5% Rita’s Crown, 3% Hilliard Bruce and 3% La Encantada. Expressive aromas of black raspberry and Bing cherry are highlighted by hints of earth, black peppercorn and a touch of oak. On the palate, hints of cherry cola, black cherry and spice give way to a velvety mid-palate and lush, lingering finish. While this wine is ready to drink now, it will continue to develop with additional time in the cellar. 512 cases made. More info

Our latest staff field trip was affectionately labeled "The Ken Brown History Tour!" We stopped at the gravity-flow winery at Byron Vineyard & Winery where Ken was founder/winemaker from 1984-2004, then to Kenneth Volk Wines, which was Byron's first home before the gravity-flow winery was built. We ended the day at Zaca Mesa Winery where Ken began his career as founding winemaker in 1977. What a fun trip down memory lane!
