 2016 SANFORD & BENEDICT VINEYARD PINOT NOIR
Planted by Richard Sanford and Michael Benedict in 1971, this vineyard is the birthplace of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. This wine is profoundly rich and complex with aromas of wild blackberry, violets and cherry cola accented by subtle notes of sandalwood, star anise and cured meat. The supple, opulent mouthfeel gives way to juicy flavors of boysenberry and black raspberry with hints of earth and burnt orange peel. The bright acidity and fine tannins are beautifully integrated to create an exceptionally balanced wine that will cellar gracefully for years to come. Only 285 cases made. More info

THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD OF HARVEST 2018
 With Thanksgiving on the horizon, we finally wrapped up the 2018 Harvest on Monday, November 5 with .8 tons of Syrah from the superb Thompson Vineyard in Los Alamos Valley. Not only is this vintage our latest start since 2013, it could be one of our latest end dates ever. The last time we picked grapes in November was during the 2011 harvest when we brought in Watch Hill Syrah on November 2. While temperatures during the majority of this vintage have been cool, the heat bump we have been enjoying in late October into early November could not have been better timed to perfectly ripen the Thompson Syrah.
