2014 RADIAN VINEYARD PINOT NOIR
One of the appellation’s most picturesque and coldest vineyards, Radian is located in the southwest corner of Sta. Rita Hills, unsheltered from direct exposure to cold winds and marine fog from the Pacific Ocean. The wine offers aromas of blackberry and black plum and with accents of sarsaparilla, wood smoke and thyme. An explosion of flavors includes hints of black raspberry and ripe plum with a touch of ocean salinity and smokiness. The luxurious texture is richly layered, superbly balancing smooth tannins with a gentle thread of acidity, setting the stage for outstanding aging potential. 2015 SANTA BARBARA COUNTY PINOT NOIR
This wine showcases some of the finest vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation of Santa Barbara County:  44% Rancho La Viña, 30% Rio Vista, 13% Zotovich, 7% Radian and 6% Buona Terra. Aromas of black cherry, Santa Rosa plum and pomegranate are accented by subtle earth tones and native flora, such as lavender and sage. On the palate, a solid core of rich Pinot Noir expression is surrounded by hints of dark cherry and black tea. While the drinkable style of this wine makes it enjoyable upon release, additional bottle age will promote even more depth and complexity. More info


"FIGHT THE SLIDES" BICYCLE RIDE BENEFITING MONTECITO VICTIMS

Duncan Marks, Associate Winemaker here at Ken Brown Wines is heading up a special fundraiser March 9 to 11 to support small businesses and individuals still displaced by the mudslides in Montecito. The 3-day 175-mile bicycle ride between the two most significant mudslides on the Central Coast—Ragged Point in Big Sur and Montecito in Santa Barbara County—is open to anyone in 1, 2 or 3 day segments. Donors of $100 or more will receive a digital voucher to redeem for a bottle of Ken Brown 2015 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir for pick-up at the tasting room. Donors of $200 or more will receive a digital voucher for a bottle of Ken Brown 2014 Rancho La Vina Pinot Noir to redeem at the tasting room. Any support you can give this effort is much appreciated. Duncan along with Amber Hogan from our tasting room have been volunteering in the Montecito "bucket brigades" helping dig out mud from victims' homes.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Thomas Fire/Mudslide Relief Fundraiser on January 14th. With your help, we donated over 5,000 meals to the Food Bank of Santa Barbara.

March 2-3, 2018  WORLD OF PINOT NOIR, BACARA RESORT, SANTA BARBARA, CA
Ken will be serving as a panelist for the seminar "Discovering the Cool Climate Terroirs of the Central Coast" on Friday, March 2 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. He also will be participating in the World of Pinot Noir Grand Tasting on Saturday, March 3 from 3:30 to 6:00 pm, which will feature more than 100 Pinot Noir producers from around the world as well as local, seasonal wine country appetizers and silent auction items.
